As you know, Turkey recently faced a failed coup attempt to its democracy and constitutional order. I am proud to say that our national sense and institutional heritage as well as stance for democracy preserved the peace and security in the country in a short period of time.
There is no doubt that both the Presidency and the Government are giving utmost importance and determined to take all necessary steps and measures to ensure stability and security for our nation. I would therefore like to reiterate, on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, our commitment and the highest support for the organisation of the 23rd World Energy Congress.
We are very excited for being the host country of such an important event, the triennial World Energy Congress. This Congress offers a unique platform for us to discuss the global developments in the field of energy and climate change by exploring new strategies and policies. Turkey remains a key player not only for its region that is central to many critical energy issues today, but also for the global energy debate.
I am confident that the global energy community will show support and commitment for this unique and outstanding event. I look forward to welcoming you all in Istanbul under the visionary theme of the 23rd World Energy Congress, “Embracing New Frontiers” to take part in the debate that will shape the energy future for the years to come.
